John Denver, a singer-songwriter from Colorado who was a specialist in folk-pop music touched the hearts of millions. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. is a Mexican-born musician and singer who fell in love with Colorado. Denver's popular songs about his state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown the curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver was by far one of the top artists who represented Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame to be inducted into the hall. He is the face of Colorado to many around the world. In my journeys, you come across someone on the opposite side of the world or someone of New Zealand and you say 'I'm from Colorado and the first thing out of their mouth is Oh John Denver! Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads is the only Denver Top 10 Hit as a Solo Artist following his time with small folk groups. The song was written in collaboration with Bill Danoff. Danoff wrote the tune with the inspiration of Johnny Cash, but Denver could hear an early version and knew it was going to be a top 10 hit. Following the performance in Washington D.C. to a huge crowd, the singer released the song a couple of days afterward.
